Common questions

Where is my data stored?

Your health data, journal entries, and insights are stored locally on your device. Journal entries can be synced privately across your Apple devices via iCloud (CloudKit). Beat Journal does not store your raw journal entries or raw health data on its servers.

How does AI work in Beat Journal?

AI features are opt-in and require a separate consent beyond general data collection. When you enable AI features, Beat Journal assembles a focused evidence pack for the current request on-device, then routes it through Beat Journal's servers to a contracted model provider. Retrieval and search stay on your device. You can revoke AI consent at any time in Settings › Privacy & Legal.

How do I delete my data?

Open the app and go to Settings › Privacy & Legal › Delete All My Data. This permanently removes your data from the app and from connected iCloud devices. Data already processed by AI providers may remain subject to those providers' retention terms.

Which data sources does Beat Journal support?

Apple HealthKit (sleep, activity, body, vitals, mindful minutes), the Oura Ring API (sleep, activity, recovery), the Hevy API (workouts and training load), Apple EventKit (calendar event counts and meeting durations), and Apple WeatherKit (local weather). Every connection is optional and revocable.

What does Beat Journal cost?

The base app — including the journal, dashboard, and weekly AI insights — is free at launch. Additional AI features may move to a paid tier in a future release; existing free features will remain available.

Which devices are supported?

Beat Journal supports iPhone running iOS 18 or later. iPad and Mac versions may follow after the initial release.
